The Broad River Watershed Association along with Keep Elbert County Beautiful are organizing a fall float and river clean-up. This event is listed as River's Alive event #56.
Join BRWA for our Annual Fall Float, part of the Rivers Alive campaignto clean and preserve over 70,000 miles of Georgia’s rivers and streams. At 10:00 am we will meet on Roy Woods Road, Comer, GA at the Broad River Outpost take out (take hwy 172 from Athens, just before crossing the Broad River turn right onto Roy Woods Rd, go appx. a half mile & look for BRWA signs). We will float down the river approximately 3 miles, taking out on private property and will pick up as much trash as possible on the float! There are a few portions of this float that can be difficult. For safety reasons, only experienced paddlers should participate.
Bring your own canoe or kayak or rent one from Broad River Outpost (706-795-3242) for $15 per person. Bring water and wear clothes you don't mind getting wet in. We'll have a hotdog lunch at the end of our float. We'll shuttle back to Roy Woods around 1:30-2pm. Keep Elbert County Beautiful will be providing our trash disposal and will weigh and process it at the Elbert County Transfer Station.
YOU MUST RSVP BY October 8 to help us organize the shuttle. Please email Susan Staley (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your name, phone number, and number of people/boats in your party or call 706/340-0442
